I painted this custom digital illustration to combine two separate family memories into a playful, high-energy masterpiece designed as a unique Father's Day gift.

Blending Family Memories with Playful Patterns

This commission was an incredibly fun and creative puzzle to solve. The collector wanted to gift her dad a portrait featuring him alongside their two family dogs. However, while one pup was ready to pose for a sweet, mid-kiss snapshot with her dad, the other dog just wouldn't sit still! To bring them all together into a balanced scene, we chose a digital painting route instead of traditional oil on canvas. This gave me the freedom to craft a unique layout that fits everyone's distinct personality perfectly.

The centerpiece of the artwork captures a tender, close-up moment of the first dog planting a big kiss on her smiling dad's cheek. To include the second pup without crowding the tight composition, I turned his favorite hobby into a stylized background pattern, painting him jumping up to catch floating translucent bubbles, repeated as a whimsical wallpaper design. Even though this is a digital piece, I used my signature bold brushwork, layering warm neon pinks, soft corals, and deep greens into the shadows to mimic the rich, heavy texture of a traditional oil painting. Built as a high-resolution file, this artwork can be scaled and custom-printed onto large canvases, frames, or even personalized home decor pieces.
