In the center, two small goldfish are rendered in the same fiery orange and red tones as the fruit, appearing to morph out of the citrus. Each element casts a deep, saturated violet and magenta shadow. I used thick, sculptural impasto brushwork, creating raised ridges that give the fruit and fish a physical, 3D volume.

In "Sweet Orange," I explored a playful metamorphosis where vibrant orange slices sit alongside goldfish rendered in the same fiery palette. I used dense, sculptural brushwork to give the fruit and the fish a physical weight, making the highlights pop against the saturated pink and mint background.

This is a one-of-a-kind physical artwork, not a reproduction. I painted this on a rigid wood panel that I hand-primed in my studio to ensure the oil pigments stay rich and the surface remains durable for a lifetime. At 20x20 cm (8x8 inches), it is a substantial size that works perfectly as a standalone statement or as the anchor of a gallery wall.
