Painting this trio of distinct feline personalities, Mochi, Coco, and Boo, was such a soulful journey, especially as a special surprise for a sister in Canada.

A Chromatic Tribute to Three Best Friends

When Sara reached out to me, she wanted to capture the unique spirits of her sister’s cats. This hand-painted commission was particularly moving because it included a memorial for Mochi, a dark brown Siamese. Sara shared that Mochi always had a teal collar, so I infused his tribute with teal spectral highlights and a rich, chromatic background to honor his memory. For Coco, I absolutely had to capture her iconic "no thoughts" expression against an iridescent sky blue, while Boo the black cat came to life with neon-infused shadows against a soft lavender purple.

I worked on 10x10-inch panels to give these custom oil paintings enough breathing room to show off their features. Using my signature thick impasto, I focused on the "chonky" charm of Boo and the wide-eyed wonder of Mochi. The result is a cohesive set of original pet art that looks stunning together as a gallery wall but lets each cat’s buttery texture and high-contrast light shine individually.
