  • A large 30x30 cm square original oil painting. The composition features two large halved citrus fruits—an orange and a grapefruit—alongside smaller grapefruit segments on a pale yellow surface. Three small goldfish, rendered in glowing orange and yellow, appear in the scene: one on the rim of the orange, one on the grapefruit, and one "swimming" within a deep purple shadow in the foreground. I used thick, sculptural impasto brushwork to create raised ridges on the fruit rinds and fish.

Make a bold statement with this large-scale original that blends high-saturation citrus with a surreal, liquid metamorphosis.

In "Citrus Flavor," I used the 30x30 cm format to create a more immersive scene. This piece features the recurring goldfish motif from my smaller studies, but here they interact with large grapefruit and orange halves across a wide, light-filled space. I focused on the vibrant reds and oranges, contrasting them against deep, atmospheric purple shadows to create a visual "hum".

I utilized a viscous application of oil paint to build up a sculptural relief. The rinds and the goldfish have a physical 3D texture that catches the light in person, giving the work a depth that standard prints simply cannot replicate. This is a one-of-a-kind physical original, painted on a rigid wood panel that I hand-primed in my studio for maximum archival quality.
