Bear & Goose: Custom Character Oil Painting

This 12x12 inch oil painting is one of the most original character portraits I have ever created, blending a playful concept with my signature painterly style.

A Whimsical Story on Canvas

I loved the challenge of bringing this specific vision to life. The idea was to capture a bear and a goose in a way that felt like a royal portrait but with a fun, modern twist. Inspired by the aesthetics of "Untitled Goose Game," I focused on the details that make these characters special: the dapper green cap for the bear and the shiny, patent pink bow for the goose. By cropping the composition to focus on their heads and shoulders, I was able to create a sense of presence and scale that makes the subjects feel like they are right there in the room with you.

I chose a vibrant teal and blue background to create a strong contrast with the warm, earthy tones of the bear’s fur and the bright white of the goose. I applied the professional oil paint heavily using my thick impasto technique, building up a surface that is full of physical texture and life. I spent a lot of time on the highlights to give the goose’s bow that "patent" shine and to pull colorful shadows out of the bear’s coat. This piece is painted on a handmade wood panel, making it a durable heirloom that is built to last for generations.
